Make Your Own Oil Paints

In this special 2-hour workshop we will learn the recipes to make our own oil paints, and the step-by-step process of how to break down natural materials into powdered pigment.
Through this process we will uncover the origin stories of color through an art historical lens and more specifically, the history of the five different all natural and non-toxic pigments that we will be using in this unique workshop.
Each student will go home with 5 tubes of their own hand-made oil paint.

JULY 14 - 20, 2024
This week-long workshop will be an in depth study of the human figure through the process of drawing. From the skeletal and muscular structures of the body to its out features, we will explore gesture, structure, proportions, and anatomy. This course will also focus on the expressive qualities of drawing by experimenting with different approaches and mediums including graphite, charcoal, and pen & ink. We will study drawings by Old Masters and work from a nude model.
Instruction time runs for 3 hours every morning and afternoons are free-time. You can keep drawing then, go for hike, read a book, or you can even bring work with you and log some hours on your laptop.
*The model fee is included in the price of the class and the workshop is built for all levels

YOU MUST PAY ONLINE ONCE YOU ARE ACCEPTED INTO THE CLASS
In a professional and academic environment, artists work from a nude model in a variety of artistic mediums, with poses ranging from 2 min to 25 min – perfect for anyone wanting to work independently with a model at your own pace.
All skill levels are welcome to join in. Easels, chairs, and drawing boards are provided.
Artists must bring their own drawing and/or painting materials.
*Limited number of students per class so if you cannot make it please cancel your registration or notify Redux. There is often a long waitlist of people and we want to make sure everyone gets a chance.
