Domestic, Light, & Cold

Made possible in part by generous funding through the Willson Center Graduate Research Award, this ongoing series of paintings entitled, “Domestic, Light, & Cold,” explores themes of the rural South specifically inherent in the consumption of inexpensive domestic beer typically polished off after a hard week’s work. As a cheap elixir, American light beer is especially symbolic to working-class people and the regions in which they live. Together, this series is an index of celebration, leisure, and fellowship for the working-class.
